Swatch - athon: Colour Club Mini Pack in Mighty Brights

These set of mini polishes have been in my collection since around June of this year during a massive haul to keep me motivated with my studies. They were an impulse purchase... but who wouldn't want to spend $1 on something that is usually priced for $16+ and not to mention, rarely sighted.

This mini set composes of 4 bottles of 7mL (0.25Oz) of polish from the Flower Power Collection which consists of neon shades. The mini set, Mighty Brights, was released with the four best selling neons from the collection.

PCFSC: #35; Ticker Tape Parade

You would NOT believe the amount of new words and events that I have learn during the Purple Crumpet Spring Challenge. This was another thing that I had absolutely no clue on - I am so glad that we have google in our modern world.

I would really love to be in one of these parades one day, they look so fun!

PCFSC: #30; Easter Bonnets

I've never hear of an "Easter Bonnet" in my life - I thought they'll be more like those lady bonnets from long time ago where women did all the housework and men had most authory... luckily nowdays there's a handy little search engine called Google.

Google told me that Easter Bonnets are hats decorated with flowers and chicken which celebrates spring and easter for the Easter parade; they're also made from straw or knitted. This was my inspiration:

... Funny thing was, I was going to stamp on butterflies and roses then layer nail decals sticker on top but I had left my stamper and scrapper back at home! Oh my.

PCFSC: #25; Spring Stripes

Everything about today's nails cries off "Spring is here" - I'm just surprised that it look me 25 challenges and near the end of the entire thing to find my spring pastels that already existed in my collection. Hahaha.

I think this looks like a baby room or shower on crack topped off with some gentle glitter.

PCFSC: #23; Subtle Glitter/Flakie Bomb

I have no clue how to do either of those subtly, LOL! I'll try my best :)

I chose I Always Get My Man-drin because it has a very beautiful mint green shimmer and smells/look really springish. In the end I decided to use both flakie and glitter - however the flakie doesn't really stand up much in light colour and it's also really sparse in the polish. I guess I got the subtle part right!

This manicure was used for the challenge 2 days ago.

PCFSC: #22; Large Flowers

I actually did the challenge after this one first before coming back to this one. The Purple Crumpet Fairy Spring Challenge has a lot of flowers - I don't want all my flower manicures to look the same so this took a lot of thought. I went through the list a couple of times to see if I could recycle anything but I still couldn't think of anything special.

In the end I draw it from something that I own that I really like, which turns out to be my favourite shirt this summer. I changed the background and smaller flower's hues to orange because of the next challenge (background colours/base colour aren't that important in this case!) - you'll see in 2 days.

PCFSC: #16; Spring Gradient

Another skittles, yay!

I did a Yellow --> Orange gradient today for the Spring Gradient. I have no idea why the yellow KaSi polish always end up looking slightly green in photos but it's definitely not that colour in real life. Kind of made the gradient less "smooth" with that random undertone of the polish. Oh wells, just add some glitter and everything will be fine!

PCFSC: #11; Pastel Patchwork

I'm not a big fan of the patchwork manicure because I'm just dreadful at making the black lines thin and patchworkish or I can not draw patches without placing them evenly around my fingers. I was meaning to stamp different patterns onto each patch with a corresponding darker colour but my stamping plates were already packed away for my trip to university.

PCFSC: #8; Blossom Trees

Straight from my own farm and inspired by a picture from google that I can no longer find (explains the purple centres), freshly bloomed White Plum Blossom Trees!

I really love it when these blossoms bloom in Spring, there's so many and they're very dainty. We have about 8 very mature adult trees on one side of our driveway; when they do come, our driveway is absolutely snowed with Petals! It's very pretty!

PCFSC: #3; Small Flowers/Flower Bed

These flowers turned out to look very similar to the flowers on Spongebob Squarepants; it was not intentional but I'm rather happy that they came out well. I was going to place little "pearls" in the middle of each flower but decided that it was fine; simple but elegant.

This manicure was inspired by a Japanese woman who made three beautiful white acrylic flowers and placed them on her nude nails like a glorified french manicure.

PCFSC: #2; Favourite Spring Pink

I didn't want to chose something cliché like a pastel pink so this is my Favourite Spring Pink, it's not very springish... more of summer pink but I like it a lot and plus, it's a gift from the boy so I think it's prefect to wear it around Valentines day :)

... and of course, I couldn't resist adding glitter on top!

Day Twenty-Nine: Inspired by the Supernatural

I've been looking forward to today's challenge! I'm not much of a supernatural girl... in fact, I'm quite opposite, almost anything supernatural scares me, Zombies on Minecraft? Dig a hole and wait for daylight to come. There is one ghost that I am very fond of, King Boo from the Mario series. He's so uber cute and the sound he makes when he's up to something mischievous makes me giggle inside as if I know what he's up to.

King Boo

As the years gone by, he's became less of an evil villain and more of a cheeky prankster who is always up to no good, I love him so much, haha. (For those who have asked me why I never show my thumb - it looks weird in photos but also I have a short thumb compared to the rest of my already short fingers and so it's rarely noticed therefore I just paint it plainly where someone else would put most of their nail art on it. Anyways, photo just for them!)

Day Twenty-Three: Inspired by a Movie

The first ever movie that I've ever watched was when I was 7 years old. Pokemon had been quite popular at the time, I mean it's still popular but this was when the first generation was released and every kid was oogling over how cool they were. I was basically in the same bandwagon along with my 3 brothers. This manicure is inspired by the original 4 pokeballs before all those weird ones starting poping up in later generations like the cherish ball.

It was the first pokemon movie EVER (there's 14ish now) and it played along with a shorter film based on Pikachu and the rest of Ash's pokemons but it look a while to get to New Zealand as there wasn't really an audience for it at the time of it being released.

Mewtwo Strikes Back
+ Pikachu's Vacation

(I hate how the purple kept smudging all over the other colours no matter how much I let it dry or try to avoid those areas with the topcoat D:)

Day Nineteen: Galaxy Nails

Originally I was going to do something like Emerald Sparkle's Galaxy Nails but even with her easy-to-understand tutorial... mine didn't have the same results. After 4 retries, the sponges that I have been using went too hard for these finer details so I ended up picking a couple of colours to go on top of the white nebula instead. People who can actually do these galaxy manicures are my envies, it's definitely a lot harder than it looks and even more harder than it sounds, hahahaa.

Day Twelve : Stripe Nails

Last week I broke my arm and haven't really got used to it yet. I wanted to do a neat tape stripe manicure for this challenge but even when both my arms could freely move with a huge cast in the way... I sucked at tape manicures. Instead I resorted to freehand lines which I don't quite like - it reminds me of painting hard boiled eggs for easter ( and I was inspired by this springish background of stripes).

Also, the colour combination is something I didn't chose... It was the boyfriend's idea! He deliberately chose 5 colours that he thought would not go together just to troll me, *Shakes fist at him*

Day Eight : Metallic Nails

Another stamping failure, opps. I really need to learn how to scrap the polish off properly.

Anyways, this is inspired by metal fences. I live on a farm and everywhere I look is a metal wired fence to keep animals inside their field as well as to mark land boundary between neighbouring farms. The base colour isn't as "metallic" as I wanted it to be but it still gives a pretty cool effect in a shade of metal. And the glitter? Supposed to be sparks of electric that runs through our world famous New Zealand No.8 wires.

Swatch - athon: Colour Club; Alter Ego Collection, Keep it Undercover Set

For Spring 2011, Colour Club had created a 12 piece collection called Alter EgoColour Club separated this collection into two of their famous 7 polish sets, each with a treatment. The Alter Ego collection was separated into what appears to be "the purples + shimmer".

In this case, this set, "Keep it undercover" come with a Vivid Topcoat and is packed with what I would call "the more interesting and unique shades of the collection".

Take a look at the swatches for yourself!

Swatch - athon: Colour Club; Untamed Luxury Collection, Indulgence Set

In 2010, Colour Club had created a 14 piece collection called The Untamed Luxury for their fall collection. Colour Club separated their Untamed Luxury Collection into two of their famous 7 polish sets and this one is called "Indulgence" and it consists of the creams and neutrals of the collection.

Untamed Luxury contained a glitter topcoat called Covered in Diamonds which is a part of the other set, Diamonds but I have used it with this set too. I think it looks a lot better on top of these polishes anyways because there isn't all those distractions of the glitters to prevent Covered in Diamonds from standing out.

Swatch - athon: Colour Club; Untamed Luxury Collection, Diamonds Set

For Fall 2010, Colour Club had created a 14 piece collection called The Untamed LuxuryColour Club separated their Untamed Luxury Collection into two of their famous 7 polish sets and this one is called "Diamonds" as it is jam packed with glitters and shimmers.

Actually the last polish of this set is a glitter topcoat, Covered in Diamonds, so I will be showing what that looks like on all of The Untamed Luxury polishes including the other ones from Indulgence set which contains the more neutral colours.
